Smoothies Galore

Happy First Thursday of February ~ Day 4 of a 7-day detox challenge. Have you started yet? It’s OK to start today or any day. My challenge this week runs Monday through Sunday. As previously stated, my goal for this detox is to simply feel better which includes drinking lots and lots of water ~ drink half of your body weight in water each day, in ounces (if you weigh 200 pounds, drink 100 ounces of water). Flavored water recipes break up the monotony of tap water ~ a different water option is provided each day. Today’s choice is Lime Cucumber Mint Water.

Day 4 ~ Breakfast: Grown Up Strawberry Banana Smoothie, Lunch: Electric Green Boost Smoothie, Dinner: Crazy for Kale Smoothie, Snack: you can have two (2) throughout the day; I will continue to have an Apple and an Emerald 100 calories packet of Raw Almonds (snacks are optional, but choose wisely). Today we have a three smoothies ~ you can pick and choose/mix an match any smoothie for any meal; tomorrow we have three smoothies again but don’t forget you get two snacks and drink lots of water, which will sustain you (I promise)…it sure won’t hurt me any to miss a meal or two…

The smoothies are easy to make, simply add all the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth, enjoy.

SMOOTHIE #1

Grown Up Strawberry Banana

Ingredients

1/2 Cup Strawberries

1 Banana

1 Cup Raw Spinach

1/2 Cup Almond Milk

1 tsp Vanilla Extract

You can use either frozen or fresh strawberries and depending on the smoothie consistency you prefer, you can add a little water and/or ice to your blender as you blend.

I’ve been using a combination of both frozen and fresh fruit, but of course your fresh vegetables won’t be frozen.

SMOOTHIE #2

Electric Green Boost

Ingredients

1/4 Cup Pineapple

1 Orange, peeled

1 Cup Raw Spinach

1 Cup Almond Milk

Again, simply add all the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.

SMOOTHIE #3

Crazy for Kale

Ingredients

1/2 Cup Cherries

1/2 Cup Blueberries

1 Cup Fresh Kale

2 tsp Honey

1 Cup Almond Milk

WATER

Lime Cucumber Mint Water

Ingredients

1/2 to 1 Gallon Purified Water

1 Lime, thinly sliced

5-inch Cucumber, sliced into rings

5 Mint Leaves
