Super Bowl Supper

Super Bowl Supper

Happy Super Bowl Sunday ~ or maybe not so happy, if your team didn’t fare so well ~ at any rate, GO TEAM (my team isn’t playing, but that’s okay…everyone loves a good reason to get together and have fun, so just go with it).

Today I bring you a Special Super Bowl Sunday Supper everyone is sure to love, because A) you cook it in a crock-pot, B) it has Doritos and Hidden Valley Ranch in it, and C) it’s a good meal to serve to several people, just double or triple the recipe.  Also, everything can be prepared ahead of time.

1 Family Size Package Doritos*

Hidden Valley Ranch-style Dressing Mix (powdered mix)

1 Pound Ground Beef, browned and drain the grease

1 Envelope Taco Seasoning Mix (or make your own taco seasoning mix, which is what I do)

1 Head Lettuce, chopped

1 Purple Onion, chopped

1 Tomato, chopped

1 Can Black Olives, chopped

½ Pound Cheddar Cheese, grated

¾ Cup Water

*Punch small holes in the bag of Doritos and using a rolling pin, crush lightly then set aside

FIRST Make the Hidden Valley Ranch-style dressing mix, according to the package directions, and refrigerate

SECOND Put the browned beef in a crock-pot, add Taco Seasoning and Water, simmer 1 hour

To Serve: Arrange crushed Doritos on a plate, spoon on ground beef mixture, sprinkle on chopped lettuce, purple onion, tomatoes and olives, and grated cheese; then spoon on Ranch-style dressing

Happy Super Bowl Sunday

This recipe is from one of my old school cookbook collection, Homemade With Love, (page 77)
